Why you’d want it: Weight loss and a few of the everyday supplements on this site change blood pressure, and a doctor will ask for numbers, not a feeling. Upper-arm cuffs are the ones that are validated; wrist ones are not.

Picking tip: Sit for five minutes first, feet flat, arm resting at heart height, and take two readings a minute apart in the morning before coffee. Measure your upper arm: the standard cuff fits 22–42 cm and the wide one goes bigger. Write the numbers down or use the app; a single high reading means nothing, a week of them means something worth showing someone.
